‘Scandal’ Season 6, Episode 2 Promo Teases Olivia Pope’s Plans To Take Down Cyrus Beene

“Scandal” Season 6, episode 2 will see Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) move forward with her plan to take down Cyrus Beene (Jeff Perry).

In the premiere episode, titled “Survival of the Fittest,” newly-declared president Francisco Vargas (Ricardo Chavira) was assassinated right in front of a huge crowd. His wife and Cyrus were with him on stage at the time. After President Vargas was pronounced dead at the hospital, Olivia reunited with her dad, Rowan Pope (Joe Morton). The latter told her that it was Cyrus who had Vargas assassinated. Olivia believed her father and decided to visit Cyrus at the hospital.

When she arrived there, she saw Cyrus in shock. Olivia thought that Cyrus wasn’t responsible for the deed because if he was, he wouldn’t look so traumatized. However, after President Fitzgerald Grant (Tony Goldwyn) decided to support Cyrus as the next president of the United States, Olivia realized that it was all part of Cyrus’ plan. When she met with him after the declaration, Olivia whispered into Cyrus’ ear and told him that she knows exactly what he did to the former governor.

In the promo released by ABC for episode 2, titled “Hardball,” Olivia, Mellie Grant (Bellamy Young) and Abby Whelan (Darby Stanchfield) are all convinced that Cyrus had something to do with Vargas’ death. However, President Fitzgerald Grant still doesn’t believe them. He trusts Cyrus too much to the point that he endorsed him over his own wife for the presidency.

In the same teaser, a very angry Olivia tells Abby that Cyrus will go to prison, and she won’t stop until she finds evidence that will put him there. Olivia helped Mellie in her campaign, so she also wants to make sure that her client will be the one to take over the White House.

“Scandal” Season 6, episode 2 will air on ABC on Feb. 2 at 9 p.m. EST.
