SBU exposes Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate cleric in Khmelnytsky Oblast who supported Russia's war against Ukraine

Ukraine’s SBU Security Service served a notice of suspicion to archpriest of Shepetivka Diocese of Moscow Patriarchate church in Khmelnytskyi Oblast, who supported Russia’s war against Ukraine and incited religious hatred, SBU reported on April 22.

Reportedly, since beginning of the full-scale invasion, the cleric has been holding liturgies in which he praised the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and blamed the Ukrainian authorities for starting the war.

In addition, according to the SBU, the archpriest spread fakes about Russia’s war against Ukraine on Russian social network Vkontakte, called Russia’s armed aggression a “civil conflict” and insulted parishioners of other religious communities.

The cleric was notified of suspicion, he faces up to 5 years in prison.
