Ukraine’s SBU Security Service has collected evidence against a collaborator from Luhansk Oblast who fought against the Ukrainian army in eastern Ukraine, the SBU reported on Telegram on April 16.

Ukrainian troops completely destroyed the suspect's unit and repelled six more enemy attacks near Soledar in Donetsk Oblast at the end of February.

The collaborator was the only survivor. He was then hiding in a drainpipe for two days together with the liquidated Russians.

The Ukrainian army nonetheless managed to find the militant anyway and captured him.

According to the investigation, he was a resident of the temporarily occupied Bilovodsk in Luhansk Oblast. In September 2023, he voluntarily mobilized to the ranks of Russia’s Southern Military District.

He was appointed a senior mortar platoon gunner in the 123rd Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces.

While in this position, he fulfilled the tasks of the Russian command to shell the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Bilohorivka in Luhansk Oblast. He was later transferred to the Kramatorsk front, where he stormed Ukrainian fortifications near Soledar.

The SBU investigators charged him for assisting Russia’s illegal armed or paramilitary groups in conducting hostilities against the Ukrainian Armed Forces (Part 7 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The detainee faces up to 15 years in prison.
