SINGAPORE — Two buses collided just before 6am at the Johor Bahru checkpoint on Monday (18 March), local media reported. The collision involved SBS service 160, a cross-border bus which runs between Jurong Town Hall Bus Interchange and JB Sentral Bus Terminal in Johor Bahru via the Causeway, and a private bus.

According to reports, 10 people were injured in the accident, which took place at the Sultan Iskandar Building immigration complex. Images on social media also showed broken glass on the seats of the SBS bus.

SBS Transit spokesperson Grace Wu told Yahoo Southeast Asia that a female passenger from the SBS bus was taken conscious to a hospital in Johor. The public transport operator is currently reaching out to her to render support and assistance.

“Service 160 bus was travelling straight, past the coach bay at Johor Bahru Checkpoint when it was suddenly hit on its left side by a private bus that was reversing out,” said Wu.

Eye-witness who was on bus cut by glass fragments

Another passenger on the same bus, Chen, told Chinese-language newspaper Shin Min Daily News that she was heading to work in Singapore when the accident happened. She was standing near the door, and sustained injuries on her calf and ankle, after being cut by glass fragments.

According to her, there were around 10 injured people in total from both buses. Some passengers had been bleeding from their wrists, while one had a bleeding forehead, Chen said, adding that her husband's arm was also "slightly injured".

Some travellers also took to Facebook to share photos of the aftermath, which showed broken glass strewn across the seats of bus 160, and the dented rear of another bus.
