PEORIA, Ill. (WCIA) — A man from Savoy has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison after he was convicted on a charge of sexual exploitation a minor.

Prosecutors said that in October of 2021, David Berry brought a minor into his home, sexually assaulted her and recorded the act on video. He was indicted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office the following February and he pleaded guilty last September.

At sentencing, U.S. District Court Judge Michael Mihm noted that Berry was responsible for trauma caused to the minor and ordered restitution of $6,140. Berry must also register as a sex offender.

Berry faced up to 30 years in prison and up to life of supervised release. Mihm ultimately imposed the minimum prison and supervised release sentences — 15 years in prison and five years of supervised release.
