Savoy Board to vote on Curtis Road project agreement with Champaign Co.
SAVOY, Ill. (WCIA) — The Savoy Board of Trustees is set to vote Wednesday night on whether to approve an agreement with Champaign County on funding for a vital construction project.
The agreement would see that Champaign County provides $862,500 to the village to fund the Curtis Road Grade Separation and Complete Streets Project. That’s on top of $22 million in federal funding the village was awarded for the project.
The plan is to convert the train crossing at Curtis Road and Dunlap Avenue into a viaduct with cars crossing underneath the tracks. It’s a plan that has been in discussion for almost two decades, but the village never had the money to do it.

Now, the funding is coming together with $22 million from the U.S. Government and potentially $862,000 more from Champaign County.
The Board of Trustees meeting will start at 7 p.m.
