Savannah Armendariz reported missing

CLIFTON, Colo. (KREX) — Mother to missing 14-year-old Savannah Armendariz, Amber Burrows tells WesternSlopeNow she is in a situation she never thought she would be in.

“This is all actually a pretty big shock to all of us.”

Burrows contacted the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office after she disappeared from their Clifton area home.

“I saw her. I gave her her clothes at 11:30. She looked me in the face and then I walked out. And then 10 minutes later, the dog was whining and I went into her room and she was gone.”

Burrows has been calling Savannah’s friends at school trying to find out where she could possibly have gone.

“I think it’s probably someone she met online, because we’ve been in contact with a lot of her friends, the school is aware…”

After she disappeared, Burrows discovered Savannah had a cell phone and social media, two things Burrows knew nothing about. She also has no idea who gave Savannah the phone. Burrows says Savannah’s debit card account is empty and believes whoever she’s with is paying her way.

“It has to be! Somebody has to be feeding her,” said Burrows.

Wendy Likes with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office says situations like this are common.

“Runaways are very common. We get them reported frequently.”

Likes has this advice for any parents who finds their child missing.

“You want to report it to law enforcement right away. As soon as we know, we put them in a system, and then if they are contacted anywhere within any other county or any other city, they can be located right away.”

Savannah Armendariz is described by her mother as a happy and nice kid.

Savannah Armendariz is about 5’5″. She has blonde hair to her shoulder line with black hair in front. She has green and brown eyes. She has braces with black bands. No tattoos or piercings. She was last seen wearing a pair of red, black and white Nikes and a black zip up hoodie with blue jeans.

If you have any information on Savannah Armendariz, you are urged to contact the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office or any local authorities in your area.
