Sausage sold in Kansas recalled due to contamination risk

TOPEKA (KSNT) – Federal health officials say a recall is active for more than 35,000 pounds of sausage due to fears it is contaminated with pieces of rubber.

The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) says Salm Partners, LLC, from Wisconsin is recalling its Johnsonville turkey kielbasa sausage produced between Oct. 30-31 in 2023. These came in 12 oz packages labeled as “Johnsonville POLISH KIELBASA TURKEY” sausage with a ‘best by date’ of May 17, 2024 and May 18, 2024. Each product bears the establishment number “P-32009” on the side of the packaging.

These sausages were shipped to retail locations in 11 states, including Kansas, according to an announcement from the company’s website. Other states included in the recall are Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Washington, California, Oregon, Idaho, North Carolina, Iowa and Minnesota.

The problem was first noticed after some customers discovered pieces of rubber in their sausage, according to the FSIS. No injuries have been reported yet in connection to this recall.
