Sauk Rapids man killed in weekend crash in Sherburne County

Jul. 5—SHERBURNE COUNTY, Minn. — A Sauk Rapids man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Sunday morning, July 2, in Sherburne County.

Noel R. Ashcroft, 60, of Sauk Rapids, died in the crash at the intersection of Sherburne County roads 11 and 16, according to a news release from the Sheriff's Office.

The crash was reported at about 9:45 a.m. Sunday. Ashcroft was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado west on County Road 16 when he pulled out in front of a 2014 Silverado that was traveling south on County Road 11, according to the release.

Ashcroft was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to the release.

The driver of the 2014 Silverado, Mitchell C. Struffert, 27, of Foley, was taken to a hospital and later discharged.

There are no traffic control devices on County Road 11 at that intersection, only stop signs control traffic in both directions on County Road 16.
