'Saturday Night Live' #TBT: Stephen King can't stop writing
A movie version of Stephen King’s It is hitting theaters this weekend, ready to terrorize adults and children with visions of creepy clowns.
In honor of King, who turns 70 later this month on Sept. 21, we dug up this old Saturday Night Live “Weekend Update” clip. Jon Lovitz impersonates the author, gently poking fun at how prolific he is.
With Dennis Miller behind the desk, “Weekend Update” beams in video of King clattering furiously on a typewriter from his study in Maine. He’s just had his 14th bestseller with Tommyknockers, but why stop there?
He doesn’t stop typing as Miller asks him about his writing schedule — which is basically 24/7. The only time he pauses is when asked about the subject of his next book.
King peers at the page in the typewriter. “A dog who sets fires in chemical dumps,” he says before furiously typing again.
SNL returns for its 43rd season on Sept. 30 with host Ryan Gosling and musical guest Jay-Z.
