Saturday 29 A.D. to be presented at First Presbyterian following Holy Thursday service

Mar. 21—Saturday, 29 A.D. is being put on by First Presbyterian next week as part of the church's 'Holy Week' observances.

Saturday, 29 A.D. is a dramatized dialogue based on the Pontius Pilate and his wife, Claudia.

"Pilate in this production knows who and what Jesus is," a press release from the church states.

This story is a little different from the normal Holy Thursday dramatizations, which usually follow Jesus and his apostles with the 'Last Supper,' 'the Farewell Disclosure' and the 'Agony in the Garden.'

This story follows Pilate and Claudia and what their role could have been like when it was Pilate that had to make the decision to crucify Jesus.

"It becomes evident that [Pilate and Claudia] represent more than just two historical figures, Pilate becomes 'Everyman' and is faced with the choice of acceptance or rejection.

"Claudia becomes the antagonist in the story, pushing Pilate to a final decision," the release says.

Instead of Jesus presenting the four chances, it's Claudia who presents the "opportunities" for Pilate to redeem himself.

Cameron Carpenter plays Pontius Pilate and Ashley Phillips plays Claudia.

This will take place at First Presbyterian on March 28 at 7:30 p.m. at PFC Richmond which is located at 330 W. Main Street.

This event is free and open to the public to attend.
