Satellite voting starts this week
Apr. 27—ANDERSON — Early voting for the May 7 primary has begun at the Madison County Government Center and will continue there and at satellite locations throughout the county.
As of Thursday, 1,688 ballots had been cast in the primary. Of that total, 732 voted at the government center, 863 by mail, 89 by traveling board and four by email.
The majority of the ballots — 1,264 — have been cast in the Republican Party primary.
Two years ago, of the 89,892 voters registered for the primary, 14,840 ballots were cast, meaning 16.5% of those registered actually voted. There were 10,077 ballots cast in the GOP primary and 4,763 in the Democrat primary.
Early voting for the 2024 primary started April 9 and runs through May 6 at the government center, 16 E. Ninth St., Anderson, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Early voting at the government center will also take place on two Saturdays, April 27 and May 4, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Monday, May 6, from 8 a.m. to noon.
Early voting at the satellite locations will be April 29 through May 3 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Additionally, Crossroads Global Methodist Church will host early voting 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, May 4.
No matter where you live in Madison County, if you are registered to vote, you can catch your ballot early or on primary day at any voting location in the county.
