Saskatoon police major crimes investigating high-speed crash that left 16-year-old dead

The Saskatoon Police Service's major crimes section is now investigating a crash that left a 16-year-old dead and two other teens injured on Sunday morning.
The teen who died was a passenger in a 2008 Honda Civic when the driver lost control, crashed into a pole and flipped over, according to Saskatoon police.
He was declared dead at the scene.
The teen who was killed was a student at Evan Hardy Collegiate in Saskatoon, according to the Saskatoon Public Schools board.
It has communicated with families about how they can support their children at this difficult time, the board said in a statement.
"We have also made additional counselling support available to respond to students' needs," the statement said.

Police confirmed to CBC on Tuesday that a 15-year-old boy was driving the car. He sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The other passenger in the car, another 15-year-old boy, is in hospital with critical injuries.
At this point, police don't believe impairment was a factor in the crash.
Saskatoon police say no charges have been laid, but they haven't ruled out the possibility of charges.
CBC is not naming the teen pending the police investigation.
