Sarah Palin Says She Was ‘Duped’ by Sacha Baron Cohen Posing as Disabled Veteran

Sarah Palin says she was “duped” by Sacha Baron Cohen who was posing a disabled veteran for his upcoming Showtime series, “Who Is America?”

In a lengthy message on her Facebook page, the former Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate wrote, “Yup – we were duped. Ya’ got me, Sacha. Feel better now? I join a long list of American public personalities who have fallen victim to the evil, exploitive [sic], sick “humor” of the British “comedian” Sacha Baron Cohen, enabled and sponsored by CBS/Showtime.”

Showtime declined to comment when contacted by TheWrap.

Palin explained that she was sent a request for a “legit opportunity” to honor American Vets and contribute to a “legit Showtime historical documentary,” and that she and her daughter traveled across the country to interview Baron Cohen, she guesses, who had “heavily disguised himself as a disabled US Veteran, fake wheelchair and all.” She added she eventually realized it was a farce and walked off the interview.

“The disrespect of our US military and middle-class Americans via [Baron] Cohen’s foreign commentaries under the guise of interview questions was perverse,” she wrote.

Palin also challenged the network and Baron Cohen to donate all the proceeds from the show to a charitable group that supports American veterans. “Mock politicians and innocent public personalities all you want, if that lets you sleep at night, but HOW DARE YOU mock those who have fought and served our country,” she said.

Palin also accused the production team of purposely dropping them off at the wrong airport.

“Who Is America?” premieres Sunday at 10 p.m. on Showtime, so maybe we’ll get to see what all the fuss is about then.
