People have been freaking out all week about how expensive the EpiPen just got thanks to a major hike from Mylan. According to CNN, what cost $100 in 2009 (the standard two-pack) grew to $600 over the past several years. With an increase in visibility thanks to the ~internet~, everyone from the average person to Hillary Clinton is pissed. Sarah Jessica Parker, whose son has an intense peanut allergy, recently joined the voices calling for a price decrease.

“The epinephrine auto-injector is a vital part of our family’s healthcare, as it is for many people who are at risk,” Sarah Jessica Parker wrote on Instagram. “I recently learned that the price of the Epi-Pen has been systematically raised by Mylan to a point that renders the medication cost-prohibitive for countless people.”

“I’m left disappointed, saddened, and deeply concerned by Mylan’s actions,” Parker wrote. “I do not condone this decision and I have ended my relationship with Mylan as a direct result of it.”

As a result of the backlash, Mylan has pledged to make the EpiPen more affordable.

“We responded this morning, first and foremost, ensuring that everybody that needs an EpiPen has an EpiPen,” Mylan CEO Heather Bresch told CNBC. “As a mother I can assure you that the last thing we could ever want is no one to have their EpiPen due to price.”

It’s good to hear. No one should be making bank off of the suffering of others. We just hope they come through, and that they find ways to make the EpiPen even more affordable, as $300 every time the product runs out or goes bad just isn’t doable for many American families.
