Santa Rosa Beach 4-year-old killed, man injured in crash involving tractor-trailer and cyclist: FHP

WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — A 4-year-old was killed, and a man was injured in a crash involving a cyclist on Tuesday in Walton County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers with the FHP responded to the crash on Tuesday at around 3:10 p.m. on State Road 30 (US 98) at County Road 2378 (Scenic Gulf Drive).

According to crash reports, a tractor-trailer driven by a 65-year-old man from DeFuniak Springs was turning from County Road 2378 east onto State Road 30 while “pedi cyclist(s)” towing a child in a cart were crossing US 98 from the south just east of Scenic Gulf Drive.

The tractor-trailer and the cyclist collided in the intersection, the report said.

One of the cyclists, a 40-year-old man from Santa Rosa Beach, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The child being towed, a 4-year-old boy, was pronounced dead on the scene.
