SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah state officials say a piece of sandstone with ancient dinosaur footprints has been stolen near Moab.
KSL-TV reports that (http://bit.ly/1mfhiTR ) a tour guide for a private outdoor adventure company noticed the missing piece of rock Wednesday.
Utah Bureau of Land Management district paleontologist Rebecca Hunt-Foster says the dinosaur tracks are 190 million years old. She says they are one-of-a-kind tracks that don't have a price.
Hunt-Foster says they were located near a popular off-roading trail. Many guides would stop and show people the footprints.
She says they don't have any leads yet on who might have done it. She says the sandstone would have been heavy to carry, but it's easy to get to since it's near the jeep trail.
