San Pablo appoints first Asian American police chief

SAN PABLO, Calif. (KRON) — An East Bay city made history recently in appointing its first-ever Asian American police chief. Brian Bubar was sworn in as San Pablo Police Chief.

Bubar, a 21-year veteran of the force, had been serving as acting chief since the beginning of the year. His first day as actual chief, fittingly, kicked off the first day of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month on May 1.

“I appreciate, respect and remember the pioneers before me,” Bubar said.
