San Jose tattoo artist ID’d as homicide victim

(KRON) — A talented San Jose tattoo artist and father of three was slain outside Park Lane lounge last week, according to a GoFundMe page organized by his family.

Jose Luis Rodriguez was fatally shot on the west side of the city on Moorpark Avenue, blocks away from Archbishop Mitty High School. It’s unclear if any arrests have been made.

“Jose Luis Rodriguez was tragically murdered in the early morning of Thursday, February 29. We are still waiting to find out more answers and if anyone knows anything it would be greatly appreciated for you to notify SJPD,” the page states.

Rodriguez is survived by three young children and was “loved by many. He lit up the world,” the page states. The tattoo artist had nearly 18,000 followers on Instagram. Many friends and clients wrote tributes to Rodriguez on his final Instagram photograph, which he posted just two days before his sudden death.

“RIP. Glad I got a lot of ink from you that will last a lifetime,” one tattoo client wrote.

Donations raised through the GoFundMe page will help pay for funeral services, as well as support his grieving children.

The San Jose Police Department said it is investigating a motive. On the morning of the shooting, officers found Rodriguez inside a vehicle parked in the lounge’s parking lot. He was suffering from a gunshot wound and died at the scene, police said.
