San Jose nightlife hotspot closing after two decades

(KRON) — A popular pub and restaurant on San Jose’s swanky Santana Row is shutting down after two decades. Rosie McCann’s owners said rising costs, declining sales revenues, and post-pandemic challenges led to a tough decision.

A statement posted on the restaurant’s website writes, “It is with a heavy heart that we have decided to close Rosie McCann’s in Santana Row after 20 years. The harsh realities of running a restaurant after the pandemic were too great for this small female run family business to continue. Our last day in Santana Row will be April 20.”

Rosie McCann’s was a longtime staple on Santana Row for nightlife, dancing, custom cocktails, and dining. A second Rosie’s restaurant location in downtown Santa Cruz will continue to remain open.

Owner Mina Shamsaei thanked her customers and employees in San Jose. Shamsaei wrote, “I want to express my sincere gratitude to the Rosie’s staff.  It was my honor and pride to lead such an amazing group of people. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to watch you grow in your careers, build your families, and most importantly develop into wonderful people. This isn’t goodbye, but rather come visit us in Santa Cruz.”
