San Jacinto flood warning issued, Red Cross shelters open in Livingston, Coldspring | CW39 HOUSTON

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KIAH) -- There's a flood warning along the East Fork of the San Jacinto River. Now Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo is calling for a voluntary evacuation. Several communities along the lowest-lying areas in northeast Harris County, like the Idlewild, and Idle Glen subdivisions and homes along the river, in the Commons of Lake Houston, are being asked to leave. To help those in need impacted by the flooding, the Texas Gulf Coast Red Cross opened shelters to support families displaced by the rising water. Shelters are now open in Polk and San Jacinto counties. If you plan to stay in a Red Cross shelter, you're encouraged to bring prescription medications, extra clothing, pillows, blankets, hygiene supplies, important documents and other comfort items.
