San Diego Police prevent weekend intersection ‘street takeover’
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A group’s attempt to take over a Lincoln Park intersection with an illegal sideshow was unsuccessful after San Diego Police officers were alerted about the plans Saturday.
The group tried to perform a sideshow, or “street takeover,” at the intersection of Ocean View Boulevard and Gloria Street in the Lincoln Park neighborhood, according to a release from the San Diego Police Department Monday.

Authorities said officers with SDPD’s traffic and northeastern divisions responded and stopped the plan.
Officers said the group tried to perform another one at the intersection of Cedar Street and Grove Street in South Park before it was also stopped by officers.
After detaining a vehicle suspected of being involved with the event, authorities found a loaded, unregistered firearm inside. One of the people inside the vehicle was arrested and booked into San Diego County Central Jail for illegal possession, SDPD said.
The department warns the public that illegal sideshows can result in serious dangers such as injury, death, property damage and hit-and-run collisions, adding that drivers could possibly face murder charges if someone is killed during these events. Drivers and spectators may also face criminal prosecution for their involvement in sideshows.
