San Diego County Library among 30 finalists for national recognition

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The San Diego County Library is in the running for the highest honor for libraries in the nation.

The library was named a finalist for the 2024 National Medal for Museum and Library Service by the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the county announced Wednesday.

It is one of 30 finalists and the only library from California’s institutions recognized this year.

The National Medal is the highest honor in the United States for libraries which selects finalists based on their commitment to public service.

The 2024 National Medal winners will be announced during the last week of May with a ceremony to be held in Washington, D.C. in July.
