San Diego County Fair announces theme, concert series lineup

DEL MAR, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — The San Diego County Fair is taking concertgoers back in time with the announcement of this year’s theme, “Let’s Go Retro!”

It is the largest annual event in San Diego County with 20 days of fun and entertainment suitable for all ages.

This year, the Toyota Summer Concert Series features bands and musicians whose careers spanned multiple decades, including Grammy winners Little Big Town, TLC and Old Dominion, as well as award-winning late-night comedians Jay Leno, Craig Ferguson and Arsenio Hall.

The theme is a nod to music throughout the ages, ranging from the ’50s to the present day.

Fair and concert tickets go on sale Friday, March 8 at 10 a.m. on sdfair.com.

Tickets to the summer concert series include same-day admission to the county fair, which is open Wednesdays through Sundays from June 12 to July 7. Shows begin at 7:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

Hawaii-based reggae band Kolohe Kai kicks off the opening day lineup on June 12, followed by Old Dominion on June 13 and TLC on June 14.

The concert series also features an appearance by Ludacris on June 28, fresh off his NFL Super Bowl halftime show appearance.

The San Diego County Fair takes place at the Del Mar Fairgrounds at 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd. from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

Children ages 5 and younger get free admission to the fair and tickets for fairgoers ages 6 and up range from $13 to $25.

The estimated price ranges for the concert series (which include same-day fair admission) are as follows:

• Wednesday, June 12: Kolohe Kai; $55-$95

• Thursday, June 13: Old Dominion; $65-$125

• Friday, June 14: TLC; $45-$75

• Sunday, June 16: Pepe Aguilar; $60-$125

• Wednesday, June 19: Whiskey Myers; $55-$100

• Friday, June 21: Kings of Late Night: Jay Leno, Craig Ferguson and Arsenio Hall; $50-$75

• Thursday, June 27: Little Big Town; $55-$80

• Friday, June 28: Ludacris; $40-$70

• Sunday, June 30: Los Tucanes de Tijuana; $45-$80

• Wednesday, July 3: Yung Gravy with Tayler Holder; $40-$70

• Thursday, July 4: Fireworks Spectacular; $20-$25

• Sunday, July 7: Hombres G; $50-$85
