San Diego-area campground among top 10 in US, according to Campspot
OCEANSIDE, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — With summer break edging closer, outdoor enthusiasts are gearing up to plan their next camping trip.
For Southern California campers, you won’t need to trek very far to enjoy one of the most outstanding campgrounds in the country, according to Campspot.
The booking site recently released the winners of its 2024 Campspot Awards and one San-Diego area campground was named in the top 10.

The winners were selected based on an analysis of more than 50,000 data points, including demand, occupancy, reviews and the availability of park features, Campspot explained.
“The 2024 Campspot Awards highlight the incredible efforts of campground owners, operators, and staff to provide exceptional experiences for their guests,” said Erin Stender, CMO of Campspot. “As campers now look ahead to their spring and summer trip plans, these award-winning campgrounds provide travelers with exceptional outdoor experiences that stand out against more conventional and potentially pricier travel alternatives.”
Ranking in the No. 6 spot is Oceanside’s Paradise by the Sea Beach RV Resort. This North County campground received praise for being within walking distance from the sandy Buccaneer Beach. It was also recognized for its many amenities.
“Paradise by the Sea offers resort-style amenities like a pool, hot tub, and free HD Cable TV and Wi-Fi,” Campspot noted. “Adjacent to Buccaneer Park and Beach, you can surf perfect waves, visit the beach café, play basketball, or enjoy the playground and picnic area.”

The booking site also pointed out that the campground is in close proximity to the cities of Carlsbad and Encinitas, while also being close to LEGOLAND California — all great options to enhance the camping trip.
According to Campspot, rates for Paradise by the Sea Beach RV Resort start at $75/night for an RV site.
Two other California campgrounds made Campspot’s top 10 for 2024. Ranking No. 5 is Jackson Rancheria Casino & RV Resort in NorCal and ranking No.4 is Santa Cruz Redwoods RV Resort, which is nestled in the California Redwoods.
