San Angelo man dead in Schleicher County crash

SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — A San Angelo resident has died following a one-vehicle crash that occurred in Schleicher County during the morning hours of Thursday, Feb. 29.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred at 10:47 a.m. and approximately 6 miles from Eldorado, Texas. The weather conditions were clear, the road conditions were dry and the posted speed limit was 75 mph at the time of the incident.

A preliminary inspection indicated that the driver of a Ford E-350 box truck was traveling east on United States Highway 190 when, for unknown reasons, the driver failed to drive in a single lane and lost control of the vehicle.

The truck would leave the roadway, veering right into an eastbound borrow ditch before striking a tree. The vehicle came to rest upright facing east inside the borrow ditch, becoming engulfed in flames due to the collision.

The sole occupant of the vehicle, 30-year-old Jacob Daniel Aguayo of San Angelo, Texas, was pronounced dead on the scene by Schleicher County Justice of The Peace Judge Rahegyn Franke. Aguayo was wearing a seatbelt prior to the crash.
