This week has seen a lot of sneak peeks at what’s to come in the mobile tech world during the Mobile World Congress 2024. Samsung was no exception as it revealed its upcoming product: the Galaxy Ring.

What we know so far about the Galaxy Ring

Revealed at the Mobile World Congress 2024 conference, the new Samsung Galaxy Rings can be used as another health monitoring device, per Axios.

According to Samsung, the Galaxy Ring comes in three colors — gold, black and silver — and in nine sizes. The Galaxy Ring is meant for people “who want the benefits of a smartwatch without feeling inundated with data,” according to Wired.

The Galaxy Ring will have the following features, according to CNBC:

  • Heart rate monitoring.

  • Sleep monitoring.

  • Track movements during sleep.

  • Let users know how long it took for them to fall asleep.

According to Wired, other features of the Galaxy Ring might include a period tracker and a feature called “My Vitality Score,” which lets users know how mentally and physically prepared they are for the day.

CNBC also shares that there is a possibility of a glucose monitoring feature that is noninvasive.

Some features are still unknown, such as battery life and what the rings are made of, per Wired.

Additionally, Samsung is planning to use AI in its smart ring. According to CNBC, the leader of Samsung’s digital health team, Hon Pak, shared that they’re hoping to use AI to make sense of the massive amounts of health data the smart ring will be monitoring, providing deeper insights to a user’s health.

Other smart ring options

The Samsung Galaxy Ring isn’t the first smart ring watch to appear on the market. Oura, a company from Finland, has released a smart ring meant to track your health habits.

According to Oura’s website, its ring can track sleep, heart health, illness detection, recovery time, period cycles and stress.
