Samsung’s Galaxy Note III said to be ‘in trouble’ as display issues persist

As Samsung’s September Galaxy Note III debut nears, a new report suggests the company is “in trouble” because of production issues that continue to plague the handset. Korean-language Asia Economic on Thursday reported that Samsung is still trying hard to make its new, more durable flexible OLED display work in the forthcoming Galaxy Note III phablet, but manufacturing yield hasn’t reached the levels needed to meet projected demand. As a result, Samsung may have to use an older display type in its upcoming handset. With the phone’s expected unveiling just a month and a half away, however, the timing of this rumor seems very unlikely unless the phone won’t launch until sometime later this fall. One possible explanation: Earlier reports stated that Samsung is working on as many as four different variants of the Note III, just as there are several different Galaxy S4 models, and the model covered in this report could be a variation on the main Note III handset.
