Samsung confirms a new supersized Samsung Galaxy Note will be unveiled this month

The smartphone that Samsunged Samsung (005930) ended up Samsunging us earlier this year when we learned that more than 7 million people purchased the prodigious phone. That’s a success by any measure, and though the supersized smartphone hasn’t even hit T-Mobile shelves yet, Samsung is already set to debut the “phablet’s” successor. Rumors have been swirling for weeks, suggesting that Samsung has plans to unveil the Galaxy Note II during a press conference at the annual IFA trade show in Berlin, Germany, and now the South Korea-based consumer electronics giant has confirmed as much to Reuters.

“We plan to unveil the next Galaxy Note at the Samsung Mobile Unpacked event in Berlin on August 29,” a Samsung spokesperson told the news organization without elaborating. The Galaxy Note II is expected to feature a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and a quad-core Exynos processor, and it may also include an upgraded 12-megapixel rear camera.
