Salt Lake City airport closed due to icy runway; Frontier plane slid off runway

SALT LAKE CITY - The Salt Lake City International Airport has been closed due to icy conditions.

Airport spokeswoman Barbara Gann says a Frontier airplane slid off the runway during landing Thursday morning. There are no reports of injuries.

Gann says it's unknown how long the airport will be closed. The closure is due to ice and poor friction on the runways.

Freezing rain in northern Utah has also caused dozens of accidents on roadways around Salt Lake City this morning.
