Sally Field is trying to set up her son with 'Olympic prince' Adam Rippon

Sally Field sports one of the most impressive CVs in show business, with Oscars, Emmys and Golden Globes to accompany her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Now, the woman best known for her roles as Gidget, Forrest Gump’s mom and Spider Man’s Aunt May is hoping to add another media-friendly role to her résumé: Winter Olympics matchmaker.

Field’s youngest son, Sam Greisman, has been an active and unabashed Twitter admirer of U.S. figure skating darling Adam Rippon throughout the PyeongChang Games. In fact, Greisman — a 30-year-old writer, producer and director in his own right — has been tweeting about the 28-year-old first-time Olympian and bronze medalist since before the Games began.

Greisman seemed to particularly appreciate Rippon’s efforts to troll Vice President Mike Pence, who attended the Opening Ceremony in PyeongChang.

Rippon’s desire to make Reese Witherspoon proud apparently transformed him into Greisman’s official Olympic crush.

Less than two days later, Greisman was prepared to pop the question to Rippon.

Later that day, Field started laying the foundation for her son when she tweeted at Rippon in support of his comments against Pence.

Where so many children might have been embarrassed by their parent’s attempts to set them up, Greisman welcomed his mom’s efforts on social media.

Greisman, perhaps emboldened by Field’s intervention, proceeded to unleash a fresh flow of flattery, albeit without entirely flooding Rippon’s mentions.

Rippon finished seventh in the men’s single figure skating short program, but still wound up with gold in Greisman’s heart.

Twitter’s love of Greisman’s lavish praise spurred him to ask for more help connecting with his crush.

Naturally, Field stepped in with some encouragement that went viral …

… before taking more direct action to foster first contact—perhaps to Greisman’s chagrin.

As of this writing, Rippon had yet to respond publicly to Greisman and Field’s entreaties. You can bet we’ll be here for it when he does.
