Salina United Way hosting '80s prom night fundraiser at YaYa's
The Salina Area United Way is trying something new for a fundraising opportunity this spring—an '80s-themed prom pop-up event.
Happening from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. beginning Saturday, April 20, the Forever Young Prom 2024 will take place at YaYa's Euro Bistro, 251 S. Santa Fe Ave. in downtown Salina.
The SAUW said the event will turn YaYa's into a throwback prom night where guests are encouraged to dress in their '80s and tacky prom outfits.
The restaurant will have a photo booth to capture memories of the night, will be filled with decorations and a dance floor where guests can show off their best moonwalk, running man or cabbage patch while a DJ spins the best throwback records.
Tickets for the event are on sale now for $35, and every ticket-holder will get one themed cocktail and access to a free, YaYa's provided snack buffet. Guests can also purchase additional themed and original drinks, including themed shots, at the cash bar.
Two private room experiences for the event are also available via auction. For a small private room, for up to 10 people, bids begin at $750 and bids for the big private room, for up to 14 people, begin at $1,000. In addition to ticket fees for the event being covered for the whole party, SAUW said guests in the private rooms will get VIP treatment throughout the night, with a dining area including a designated server throughout the event, bottle service, personal snacks provided by the restaurant and a $100 gift card to use at YaYa's at a later time.

According to SAUW, a portion of all ticket sales and 10% of all alcohol sales that night will go back to the United Way to support the 2023-2024 campaign that includes 13 funded partners and the new childcare initiative the SAUW has undertaken to help alleviate what it calls a childcare crisis in Saline County.
