The New Orleans Saints have a large number of talented NFL players, and one of them is bound for Canton when he retires.

However, none of their players managed to crack the first half of ESPN’s top 100 NFL players (100-51.) Could that possibly be a sign of what’s to come, or are their top players so good…that they make the top 50?

Without a doubt, Drew Brees will make it. In my mind, Aaron Rodgers is the only quarterback better than him right now. Most people don’t see it that way, but Brees should be in the top 30. That’s what you deserve when you lead the NFL in passing yards even though you missed a game.

After Brees, it does get interesting. Brandin Cooks showed flashes of being a top-10 receiver, but will he really get in? It’s a tough call, but he probably wouldn’t be higher than, say, 45 if he makes the list. That’ll be something fun to watch. I personally consider Cooks a top-70 NFL player, but I’m not so sure about the top 50. But it’d be silly if he missed the list.

Terron Armstead will definitely be on the list. Pro Football Focus ranked him as the 26th-best player from 2015, using their rocket-science data to show why. There’s no way ESPN snubs him from their list.

As for Cameron Jordan? Like Cooks, this will be an interesting call. I don’t doubt he’s a top 100 NFL player, but top 50 is debatable. Then again, there’s no way he can miss this list.

What a fun watch this shall be.
