The SAFRA Singapore Bay Run and Army Half Marathon returns after a one-year hiatus on 28 August with the 24th edition of its signature event.

The event, themed “Together We Run”, is aimed at promoting fitness and strengthening the bond among Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) national servicemen and their families.

The 21km Army Half Marathon will cover a longer distance along Shenton Way to allow the flow of runners to space out before reaching the Marina Barrage and minimise congestion, organisers said.

Participants will also be running along the Stadium Park Connector, which will bring them closer to the Sports Hun and minimise the number of sharp turns in the route, they added.

“The running routes have been fine-tuned over the years to endure a smooth flow…while enabling participants to enjoy the spectacular view of Marina Bay and its iconic developments,” SAFRA said in a statement.

Two giant inflatables, inspired by the SAF Standard Obstacle Course, will also be introduced during the event and will be located at the Promontory @ Marina Bay to enable SAF national servicemen to share a part of their NS experience with their loved ones in a fun way, organisers said.

The event will also feature the annual “Families for Life 800m Challenge”, which will now steer away from “father-and-child” only teams and will now include mothers.

Registration for the run closes on 28 July.
