‘Safety of our passengers and operators.’ CATS chief to share budget update

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – The head of the Charlotte Area Transportation System will share an update on the agency’s budget needs for the next fiscal year on Monday.

The discussion is part of a larger budget workshop with Charlotte City Council members. CEO Brent Cagle will share his thoughts on where the agency stands and what has improved over the last several months. “Over the last year and going forward for the next year of the budget, safety, and security of our passengers, of our operators, of all of our staff, are top priority,” Cagle said over the weekend.

“We will continue adding dollars for safety and security as well as new programs, maintenance, and really more competitive pay for our operators.”

Cagle said vacancies are down and missed trips were the lowest they’ve been in 2-3 years.
