We have some sad news about McDonald’s all-day breakfast

We hope you have some clean black clothes because we’re entering into a mourning period. The all-day breakfast at McDonald’s has gone to meet its maker. Due to sales of all-day breakfast items falling 1.3% in the last three months of 2016, those delectable hash browns, egg McMuffins, and McGridlers will once again only be available during breakfast hours.

BuzzFeed News talked to franchise owner, Richard Adams, who called the all-day breakfast “a huge flop.” He wrote to BuzzFeed, “All Day Breakfast has not ‘turned around’ McDonald’s.” This was a shocking failure after the launch of McDonald’s All Day Breakfast in October 2015 caused an initial spike in sales that lasted throughout the year.

But alas, like all good things, this too must come to an end.

As if this news isn’t troubling enough, the removal of the all-day breakfast items off the menu is also a sign that the McDonald’s franchise as a whole is in a lot of trouble. According to BuzzFeed, “2016 marked the fourth consecutive year that total traffic to its U.S. restaurant fell compared to the previous year.”

It’s been difficult to get customers into McDonald’s when competing chains like Wendy’s and Burger King offer menu specials at a more affordable price. So it’s our beloved breakfast sandwich that’s taking the hit. It’s sad, but it’s for the greater good.

So, what’s going to happen to the fast-food giant as we know it? McDonald’s CEO, Steve Easterbrook, told BuzzFeed that McDonald’s has to change with the times. The company is looking to install technologically advanced kiosks, introduce mobile ordering and pay and curbside check-in.

Easterbrook also informed BuzzFeed that restaurants in the United States have yet to be remolded, which will hopefully boost sales around 5%.

Keep the faith, Big Mac lovers. McDonald’s has been doing fine in other countries, so there’s hope for us here in America. We’re sure that after the place gets a little sprucing up, loyal customers will return to the second window for pickup. Hey, maybe the all-day breakfast will come back too! Who knows?

We’re sending prayers to the company and vow to singlehandedly improve their sales numbers ourselves if we have to!
