Sacramento Zoo releases new renderings for proposed new zoo site

(FOX40.COM) — The Sacramento Zoo and an official from the city of Elk Grove released new renderings of the proposed relocation site for the zoo ahead of a city council vote on Wednesday on whether the project can begin construction.

The city says there would be about $425 million in “one-time construction” costs for the roughly 65-acre site, including an estimated 2,400 construction jobs.

The zoo released a number of new renderings of what the zoo could look like.

After construction, the zoo is expected to be responsible for its own “ongoing operation and maintenance costs.” According to the city of Elk Grove, the zoo currently operates without a subsidy from the city of Sacramento.
