Sacramento inmate’s storage unit reveals $20K worth of stolen retail property

(FOX40.COM) — A storage unit that belonged to an inmate was found to be housing over $20,000 worth of stolen merchandise from local retailers, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.

SCSO Organized Retail Crimes Detectives said they received a tip that led them to the inmate’s storage unit. After a search, more than $20,000 worth of stolen property from Nike and Marshalls in the Arden area was found.

Photos of the items found inside the storage unit include over 40 pairs of designer shoes, purses, handbags, luggage, and several articles of clothing.

The Nike store loss prevention team reportedly told the sheriff’s office that the inmate stole over $30,000 from the store. SCSO said it will process and return all seized property to the Nike and Marshalls stores.
