How a Sacramento group is brightening the holidays for families experiencing homelessness

Women’s empowerment in Sacramento is looking to brighten the holidays for women and children experiencing homelessness -- and you can help. The program is collecting essentials like socks, gloves and warm hats. The group is then creating 300 new gift bags and craft supplies to provide what they call a craft party in a box. These kits are given to the homeless women and children so they can experience the joy of making items and giving them to their loved ones for Christmas. Organizers say that usually, they would host a holiday craft party. But during the pandemic, they’re calling on the community to help them carry on the tradition for homeless families in a safer way.
