Sacramento food truck closes after 4 years of ‘tasty, plant-based meals.’ This is why

A Sacramento food truck specializing in vegan cuisine has permanently closed after about four years in business.

Rabbit Food Revolution dished out plant-based burgers, sandwiches and fries at locations across the city, as well as ghost kitchen The Line, 6415 Elvas Ave. in East Sacramento.

“With a heavy heart, I must share the difficult decision to close Rabbit Food Revolution,” one of Rabbit Food Revolution’s owners said in a Friday post on Instagram.

“Rising operating costs have created an unsustainable environment,” the post read. “(Those), coupled with unforeseen personal health challenges, have given us no other viable option” that to shut down.

How did Sacramento vegan food truck get started?

Nate Anger launched Rabbit Food Revolution in March 2020, just before the COVID-19 lockdown, The Sacramento Bee reported around that time.

Anger moved out of state and college friends Elliot Prestwich and Laura Benson purchased the company in 2022, according to the vegan food truck’s website.

On Feb. 1, Prestwich and Benson expanded Rabbit Food Revolution to The Line.

“We were eager to carry on with Nate’s mission to bring tasty plant-based meals to the Sacramento community and we wish circumstances allowed us to continue,” the owners said in Friday’s Instagram post.

Can I still eat food from Rabbit Food Revolution?

Although Rabbit Food Revolution’s trailer is closed, folks hoping to enjoy its food one last time are in luck.

“Limited quantities of our menu are still available at The Line until sold out,” the company said in Friday’s post.
