Sacramento City Council Primary Election Results 2024

(FOX40.COM) — Four Sacramento City Council races are on the ballot in the March 5 primary election.

District 2 has nine candidates, followed by three in District 4, four in District 6 and one in District 8.

If someone wins more than 50% of the vote in the primary, that person is considered the winner and there is no general election in November, but the person wouldn’t be sworn in until the end of the year.

The nine candidates in District 2 are looking to replace Sean Loloee, who announced his resignation on Jan. 4 amid a federal investigation into his grocery businesses.

District 2 consists of the North Sacramento areas of Del Paso Heights, Hagginwood and Robla.

County Election Results – March 2024 Primary

Mayor Darrell Steinberg has proposed that if a candidate wins more than 50% of the vote in the primary, he will ask the City Council to appoint that person to the seat soon after the primary to serve the remainder of Loloee’s term.

District 4 covers the areas of East Sacramento, midtown, downtown and parts of Land Park.

District 6 encompasses the area of Campus Commons and Sierra Oaks, between Stockton Boulevard and Watt Avenue, and areas of  Tahoe Park and Little Saigon neighborhoods.

District 8 covers parts of South Sacramento.
