Sacramento airports are hiring. One job pays up to $106K — but there are more opportunities

Have you ever wondered what it takes to work at an airport in Sacramento?

Ideal candidates value guest experience — and can pass a background check, said spokeswoman Lindsay Myers with the Sacramento County Department of Airports.

The SCDA operates four airports in Sacramento County including Sacramento International Airport (SMF), Mather Airport, Executive Airport in Land Park and Franklin Field in Elk Grove.

“Each airport wants to be the most beloved airport to its guests,” Myers told The Sacramento Bee on Wednesday morning via phone.

“We go back to making the guests first with everything that we do, that really is important to us” she added.

Myers said the county’s airport department is a relatively fast-paced environment that “runs on a very tight schedule.”

“We have really excellent leadership here that helps keep that front and center,” she said.

Other jobs Sacramento Airport jobs

Myers said county-specific jobs are just the “tip of the iceberg in terms of employment opportunities” at Sacramento airports.

“One of the things that makes working here so wonderful is that you really get to impact people.” she said. “I think that’s true whether you’re a food service worker or you’re a baggage handler or you’re a ticket agent or you work managing contracts.”

“There’s really a role for every kind of person here,” Myers said, including food service, retail, support services, enforcement, sanitation and parking.

Partner agencies have their own recruitment process separate from the airport, according to the county.

Sacramento airport positions are linked on the SCDA’s employment page, but it’s not a comprehensive list.

Myers suggests visiting the airport’s business directory for a list of its contracted businesses and their job opportunities.
