Ryan Thomas's girlfriend is "anxious" about him on CBB

The new series of Celebrity Big Brother is upon us at last, with a brand new batch of celebrities having subjected themselves to 24-hour surveillance for our entertainment.

One of the famous faces who's headed into the house is former Coronation Street actor Ryan Thomas, but how does his girlfriend Lucy Mecklenburgh feel about losing her partner to the CBB house for several weeks?

According to her friend Ashley James, who took part in the show herself last year, Lucy is "anxious" about Ryan's stint in the compound.

Speaking to Digital Spy about her first impressions of the new housemates, Ashley said: "I found out about [Ryan going into the house] today. His lovely girlfriend Lucy Meck is my friend and she is very, very anxious but also excited.

"She says that she misses him already because obviously he doesn't have a phone. So yeah, I'm excited to see how he does."

Ashley recently admitted that her own experience on the show left her "paranoid" and "uptight".

"When I took part in the show last year, it was a fantastic experience, but it can be really tough," she said. "I became a bit paranoid, oversensitive and uptight after being in there for so long."

Ryan entered the house during the CBB live launch show on Thursday (August 16) and was joined by actress Kirstie Alley, psychic Sally Morgan, former TOWIE star Dan Osborne, ex-footballer Jermaine Pennant, 'human Ken doll' Rodrigo Alves and former Love Island star Gabby Allen.

The contestants also included Married At First Sight contestant Ben Jardine, actress Roxanne Pallett, US reality star Natalie Nunn, comedian Hardeep Singh Kohli and former banker Nick Leeson.
