Russian Tsiklon corvette sinking analysis — UK intelligence
The UK intelligence analyzed the aftermath of Russia's loss of the Tsiklon (Cyclone) corvette, armed with Kalibr cruise missiles, the UK Defense Ministry reported on X on May 23.
The Ukrainian forces' attack on Sevastopol's Russian port on May 19 featured a mix of one-way attack drones and ATACMS missiles, likely causing the corvette's sinking.
Tsiklon is one of four Russian Kalibr-capable Karakurt-class vessels that have operated in the Black Sea since 2022, the UK intelligence said.

Two of these ships were likely relocated to the Caspian Sea for safe sea trials after a series of effective Ukrainian attacks. The fourth vessel in the group previously sustained heavy damage in a Ukrainian attack in November 2023.
While this may not drastically alter the Russian Navy's impact on Ukrainian operations, it highlights a continued danger to Russian forces operating in Crimea and the Black Sea region and demonstrates Ukraine's ongoing success in conducting coordinated strikes.
The pro-Ukrainian monitoring Telegram channel Crimean Wind reported that the Tsiklon ship had disappeared after the Ukrainian attack on May 19, suggesting that the small missile ship was hit.
Ukraine's General Staff confirmed the hit on May 21.
In over two years of full-scale war, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have sunk or disabled a third of the Russian Black Sea Fleet's vessels.
