Russian troops take civilians prisoner in northern part of Vovchansk, one case of execution reported

Ukraine's Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko has reported that Russian soldiers are taking civilians prisoner in the northern part of the town of Vovchansk (Kharkiv Oblast), where active hostilities are taking place. The Russians have also shot dead a local man who tried to escape on foot and refused to follow their orders.

Klymenko reported the first civilian executions by Russian troops since the onset of their offensive in Kharkiv Oblast. In particular, one of the residents of Vovchansk tried to escape on foot and refused to follow the orders of the Russian invaders, who subsequently killed him.

Investigators of the National Police of Ukraine in Kharkiv Oblast have opened a criminal investigation into the violation of rules and customs of war.
