Patriarch Kirill, the head of the "Russian Orthodox Church (ROC)", who has publicly approved of the Russian Federation’s war against Ukraine, has suddenly claimed to be calling for a "Christmas truce".

Source: a statement by Kirill on the ROC website

Quote: "I, Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia, appeal to all parties involved in the ‘internecine conflict’ to cease fire and establish a Christmas truce from 12:00 on 6 January to 24:00 on 7 January, so that Orthodox people can attend services on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day."

Reminder: Kirill has previously stated that the occupiers in Ukraine are protecting Russia and are "guided by an inner moral sense based on the Orthodox faith".

Kirill also made a speech in the Church of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation praising young Russians who join the ranks of the army and go off to kill Ukrainians.

However, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are not going to cease fire to celebrate anything until Russia withdraws its troops from the sovereign territory of Ukraine.
