Russian forces’ losses: Over 1,200 soldiers and 58 artillery systems down in single day
The Russian army suffered a significant blow in Ukraine, losing approximately 1,270 soldiers in just one day, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported on Facebook on May 3.

This brings Russia’s total losses since the onset of the full-scale invasion to 472,140 soldiers.
Russian forces also lost 20 tanks and 20 artillery systems on the battlefield. The overall equipment losses are estimated as follows:
Soldiers: roughly 472,140 (+1,270) people
Tanks: 7,354 (+22) units
Combat armored vehicles: 14,129 (+33) units
Artillery systems: 12,102 (+58) units
Multiple rocket launchers: 1,053 (+0) units
Air defense systems: 786 (+2) units
Aircraft: 348 (+0) units
Helicopters: 325 (+0) units
Tactical drones: 9,580 (+19) units
Cruise missiles: 2,126 (+0) units
Ships/boats: 26 (+0) units
Submarines: 1 (+0) unit
Vehicles and tankers: 16,266 (+42) units
Specialized equipment: 1,993 (+5) units.
Russian losses in Ukraine
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in February, that Russian losses amounted to 180.000 killed and up to half a million wounded.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that, according to Western intelligence services, Russian losses since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine exceeded 350.000 people on March 14.
Nazar Voloshyn, the spokesman for Khortytsia Operational and Strategic Troops Group, said that 85 percent of Russian losses were concluded in the eastern sector on April 25. This applies to both personnel and equipment.
The UK Minister of State for the Armed Forces Leo Docherty said on April 27 that approximately 450,000 Russian troops have been killed or wounded since the onset of the Russian war in Ukraine, the UK estimates suggest.
Ukraine’s General Staff said that as of April 28, the Russian army lost about 466.000 soldiers in Ukraine, including 1.100 on that day.
These are irrecoverable losses and Russian combat sanitary losses, the General Staff spokesman, Andriy Kovalev, said.
