Russian FM claims collusion of Ukraine and International Olympic Committee

Spokesperson for Russian Foreign Ministry said that International Olympic Committee (IOC) had “colluded with Kyiv regime” to destroy Russia, Match TV reported on May 15.

"Revelation of IOC President Thomas Bach that representatives of the committee asked Ukrainians to monitor statements of Russian athletes on the Internet and in the media is the ultimate dishonesty," she said, adding that this is a "criminal statement".

"It is about collusion with Kyiv regime, which encourages racial and national intolerance," she continued.

"We are talking about aggressive nationalism, a course to destroy everything Russian, in particular with hands of IOC institutions,” Zakharova concluded.

IOC allowed Russians and Belarusians to participate in the Olympics in a neutral status. The Olympics will take place from July 26-Aug. 11, 2024.
