Russian Defense Ministry recognizes rebel attacks on Belgorod, Kursk oblasts, but claims to repel
The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed the rebel attacks on the Belgorod and Kursk oblasts on March 12, with their own twist on it.
Units of the Russian Armed Forces and the FSB Border Service allegedly “thwarted” an attempt by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to break through to the border area in Belgorod and Kursk oblasts.
The Ukrainian military, supported by tanks and armored combat vehicles, supposedly made an “attempt to invade the territory of Russia” simultaneously in three directions in the areas of Odnorobovka, Nekhoteyevka, and Spodaryushino in Belgorod Oblast.
The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that they had “driven back” all Ukrainian soldiers and “prevented” encroachments on the state border.
The Russian authorities alleged that their forces had “destroyed” 60 Ukrainian soldiers, as well as three tanks and an armored personnel carrier near Nekhoteyevka and two tanks near Spodaryushino.

Three units consisting of Russian citizens – the Russian Freedom Legion, the Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK) and the Siberian Battalion – crossed the border into Russia on March 12 and announced the start of an operation to “liberate the Russian Federation from dictatorship.”According to preliminary data, it is taking place in Russia’s Belgorod and Kursk oblasts.
Explosions were heard near an oil depot in the city of Orel, where a fire broke out, and a Lukoil oil depot in Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod Oblast was also ablaze.
The largest primary oil refining unit at LUKOIL’s Nizhny Novgorod refinery was shut down after the UAV attack.
