A fire erupted after a drone attack on an oil refinery in Dzerzhinsky district in Russia's Kaluga Oblast on May 10, authorities confirmed.

The fire has since been extinguished, Kaluga Governor, Vladislav Shapsha, claimed.

There were no casualties in the attack, authorities claimed.

An "assessment of damage caused to the enterprise's infrastructure" is underway, they said.

Drones attacked an oil refinery in the Russian city of Kaluga overnight on May 10, the Ostorozhno Novosti Telegram channel claimed earlier, citing locals who wrote about a large fire.

Located in Polotnyany Zavod, First Plant is the largest petrochemical company in Kaluga Oblast. The facility processes commodity oil and gas condensate.

The refinery had already come under attack on March 15, Crimean Wind wrote.

Kaluga is approximately 350 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.

Attacks on Russian refineries

Ukraine has regularly targeted oil refineries in Russia with long-range drones since the end of January.

Ukraine's SBU Security Service has carried out at least 13 successful attacks on Russian refineries, SBU head Vasyl Malyuk said.

As a result, oil production and processing in Russia decreased by 12%, he said, adding that oil export revenues make up one-third of the Russian budget and the "lion's share" of the military budget.
